Australia has announced its preliminary 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, with the highlight being the return of captain Pat Cummins. The fast bowler is set to lead the team in Pakistan, following confirmation that he will miss the upcoming Test tour of Sri Lanka due to an ankle injury.
The squad also includes three fresh faces for an ICC event: Matt Short, Aaron Hardie, and Nathan Ellis. They replace David Warner (retired), Cameron Green (recovering from back surgery), and Sean Abbott.
Nathan Ellis earned his spot with impressive performances in the Big Bash League for the Hobart Hurricanes, while all-rounders Short and Hardie bring valuable versatility to the side. Ellis, known for his effective white-ball bowling, adds depth to Australia’s pace attack.
Australia, two-time Champions Trophy winners, will begin their 2025 campaign with a high-stakes clash against England in Lahore. For more information.
