Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Shifted to a New Venue to UAE

The ICC has announced that the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, originally scheduled for October in Bangladesh, has been relocated to a different venue. The tournament will occur across the UAE’s two venues – Dubai and Sharjah – from 3 to 20 October.

The much-anticipated ninth edition of the tournament will now be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) continuing as the event’s official host.

“It’s disappointing that we won’t be hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, as we know the BCB would have delivered a fantastic event,” said ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice.

“I want to thank the BCB team for thoroughly exploring all options to make hosting the event in Bangladesh possible. However, due to travel advisories from several participating teams’ governments, this wasn’t viable. Despite this, Bangladesh will retain its hosting rights, and we look forward to bringing an ICC global event to Bangladesh soon.

“I also want to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host on behalf of the BCB. Additionally, I appreciate the offers of support from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, and we look forward to holding ICC global events in those countries in 2026.”

The UAE, which hosts the ICC headquarters, has emerged as a major center for cricket in recent years, organizing various qualifier tournaments and co-hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021 with Oman. With its top-notch facilities and infrastructure, the UAE is well-prepared to host the Women’s T20 World Cup. For more information:
